For short chess tournaments, the McMahon system would be excellent — McMahon system tournament

Unfortunately, it is not supported by any tournament software.

For practical and simple use, it would be enough if the organizer could assign extra points to players — ideally before pairing the first round, or alternatively to players who join after the first round. That would essentially be the only change needed in the system.
