Inter-Class Chess Tournament Rules
1. The tournament is open only to bona fide students of the college.
2. The tournament will be conducted according to the FIDE Laws of Chess unless modified by the organizing committee.
3. The format (Knockout/Swiss League) will depend on the number of entries.
4. Players must report 15 minutes before the scheduled start of each round.
5. Every player must install a mobile chess clock application. The mobile chess clock is compulsory for every round.
6. A player arriving after the permitted grace period will lose the game by walkover.
7. Mobile phones, smart watches, earphones, and other electronic devices are strictly prohibited during play, except when the mobile phone is used as the official chess clock with the permission of the organizing committee.
8. Any player using unfair means or receiving outside assistance will be disqualified.
9. The touch-move rule will apply. If a player deliberately touches one of their own pieces, they must move it if a legal move is available.
10. Illegal moves will be dealt with according to the FIDE Laws of Chess.
11. Spectators are not allowed to interfere with ongoing games.
12. The decision of the Chief Arbiter/Tournament Committee shall be final and binding.
13. Winners will qualify for the next stage or be declared champions based on the tournament format.
14. Players may bring their own chess board and chess pieces, if available.
15. The last date for submitting the online entry is Wednesday, 22-07-2026, up to 12:30 PM. No entries will be accepted after the deadline.
