How to Import Players from the FIDE Rating List

ChessPairings.org includes the complete FIDE rating database — currently over 1.8 million players. This means you can add players to your tournament quickly and with accurate data.

How to add a rated player:

  1. In your tournament, go to "Add Player"
  2. Start typing the player's name or enter their FIDE ID
  3. The system searches the FIDE database in real time
  4. Select the correct player — their rating, federation, title, and birth year are filled automatically

What data is imported:

  1. Full name
  2. FIDE ID
  3. Standard, Rapid, and Blitz ratings
  4. Federation (country)
  5. FIDE title (GM, IM, FM, CM, WGM, etc.)
  6. Birth year

Unrated players:

For players without a FIDE rating, simply enter their details manually. You can optionally assign a national rating or estimated ELO for seeding purposes.

Rating list updates:

The FIDE rating list is updated on ChessPairings.org every month when FIDE publishes new ratings. The current list date is always shown in the page footer.

Tip: If you're organizing a large open tournament, encourage pre-registration. You can prepare the player list in advance and verify all FIDE IDs before the first round.
